How we do it: the Project
We teach Ghanaians to build simple, cheap, effective
rainwater tanks.
After the training, villages and schools in rural Ghana hire our trained builders to construct water tanks.
Who do you teach to build tanks?
Locals, often from disadvantaged backgrounds and rural areas.
We interview candidates to select the most suitable and most motivated people.
Many of our trainees make tank building their trade. So we are helping these villagers create a stable income for themselves and their families, as well as providing villages and schools with clean water.

What happens after the training program?
A village, or a school, hires our trained builders to build a water tank.
We, Water for Ghana, cover the cost of the tank materials and the cost of transporting these materials.
The village covers the labour costs, and provides meals and accommodation for the builders if necessary. An exemption can be made if a village or school cannot afford these costs.
Why do we ask the village to fund part of the building costs?
So that the village plays an integral part in the construction of the tank.
Donations from people like you
100% of the donations we receive go directly towards the Water for Ghana Project.
Most people prefer their donation to go towards materials for a tank.
Some donors choose to help villages or schools that cannot afford to pay the labour costs.
Others donate the entire amount needed for a tank.
It only costs about AUD$300 (US$270) to provide a village with a 10000L water tank.
The water tank recipients in Ghana and we, the Water for Ghana team, greatly appreciate any donation, big or small. Small donations do make a difference: every little bit helps!
